Food legislation

This course will introduce you to the main pieces of legislation which affect a food business such as an hotel or restaurant. If an employer does not comply with the legislation it could result in a substantial fine or even imprisonment.


By the end of this course you'll know the basics of the following pieces of legislation, why they are important and the kind of workplace procedures that have to be followed to comply with them:

  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
  • The Food Safety Act
  • General Food Hygience Regulations
  • Temperature Control Regulations
