The Front Line Guidance Course

learndirect scotland are working in partnership with Careers Scotland to e-enable The Front Line Guidance course. Developed by Careers Scotland, this is an introductory level careers guidance course and is suited to people with little or no formal careers guidance training and have direct contact with learners. 

What are the advantages?

  • Introduction to referral, how existing skills can be applied in a guidance context and an overview of career planning.
  • Delivery of non-certificated First Level Guidance Training for Community Workers. With progression toward SQA accreditation as future option.

The materials are intended to supplement and support face to face guidance training, however will standalone as a guide to the skills and issues in providing careers guidance. The course covers the following areas

  • Module 1 Understanding the role and value of guidance in learning and progression
  • Module 2 Learners in a guidance context
  • Module 3 Introductory Front Line guidance skills
  • Module 4 Career Planning and understanding need
  • Module 5 The Career Planning Journey
  • Module 6 How Careers Scotland meets Career Planning need

The online materials will focus on the specific topics of:
