Free publicity

Most people associate marketing with costly activities such as glossy adverts or expensive leaflets.  It is easy to spend a lot of money on marketing, but much can be done for very little if the right approach is taken.

An important factor is making sure you use public relations (PR) effectively, either on its own or to support other marketing activity.

This section provides guidance on generating free publicity, working with the local media and writing press releases.

There is also some practical advice on providing photography to the press and producing a newsletter.
