The advances in technology have opened up a whole world of possibilities for learners at all levels. Now learners can, at the click of a mouse, access an array of resources, specific to their learning needs. Major advance in hardware means that their are flexible solutions too, from traditional hardwired networks to the more in vogue wireless capable systems now available at a fraction of the costs they were just a few short years ago.
When selecting the right hardware for your centre make sure you get advice on what hardware and software solutions best suit your learners, as well as the online courses you will be delivering.
When selecting the I.T equipment give some consideration to the following;
Monitors – specifying a flat screen will free up more desk space for laying down materials and resources.
Keyboards – provide a wrist rest to protect elbows from desk knocks.
PC – try to locate your PC under the desk or if it small enough house it within the workstation.
It is important to remember that you and your staff recognise I.T as a tool which enables you to deliver your courses and not as the sole means to learning.
