Minerva Ministerial visit

Minerva ministerial visit

Cabinet Secretary, Fiona Hyslop visited a Dumfries learning centre last week, as part of her summer ministerial tour.

An award-winning organisation with a reputation for providing superior levels of service to employers and learners, Minerva People Limited specialises in training, recruitment, business and personnel services.

Minerva joined the learndirect scotland network of branded learning centres in September 2001 and was hand-picked for the Cabinet Secretary’s visit as an example of a learning centre that works successfully with individuals and small businesses.

The Cabinet Secretary who had visited Crichton Campus earlier in the day, was welcomed at Minerva by Directors Tricia Hunter and Rosemary Slack.

learndirect scotland, Director, Andrew Livingston, Training Partner for Dumfries and Galloway Lindsey Mason and Learning Development Officer, Hazel Muir were also invited to attend.

Following a tour of their High Street premises, the Cabinet Secretary was introduced to a number of staff and learners. Learners demonstrated the learning they were experiencing, in courses as varied as Legal Secretarial Diploma, ECDL, SAGE and Skillseekers and Modern Apprentices undertaking vocational qualifications in Administration.

Tricia Hunter said: “The Cabinet Secretary was very interested in Minerva’s plans for developing the business and the diverse services being provided to a variety of learners across the region.  She commented on the passion and energy shown by everyone in the company.”

Andrew Livingstone said: “We feel Minerva People is a truly people centred organisation and that is at the heart of everything we do at learndirect scotland.”
