During 2006/7 learndirect scotland undertook a mapping and research exercise to quantify and understand the “learning landscape” in local areas of the network of Branded Learning Centres. This was done with a view to growing networking potential, to establish links with relevant partnerships, forums and organisations, and gather their contact details. We hope you will find these useful. Four geographical regions were prioritised for this initial stage with a view to replicating this across all local areas in 2007/8.
This work will also support plans to establish local Learning Centre Operations Groups in each area – following consultation with each area network to establish agreement on the best groupings and to avoid duplication of existing local forums – and thereafter inviting key organisations to attend these as appropriate, share information, present key information and interact with the local operational groups.
The results are divided into 4 reports:
Edinburgh
Dundee
Renfrewshire
Glasgow
For the three cities the geographical area has been determined by the Local Authority Area, whereas Renfrewshire comprises the Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire areas.
Each report contains a listing of partnerships, networks, forums and organisations detailing the name of the partnership, its main aims, contact details and main contact, website address and a list of the key partners involved in the forum/initiative. For ease of reference, the list of partnerships in each area has been shown in alphabetical order. Some partnerships have been highlighted as a key source of information for gathering further details on other projects, forums and initiatives, and need to be contacted to give further insight. The reports are intended as working documents to be built upon by direct contact with the partnerships and organisations listed. It is anticipated that the listings will be added to and amended by those of us in the network so please contact your learning development officer (LDO) with any queries or suggestions.
